An interesting combination

Goose Island Bourbon County

While looking around a few beer sites today, I stumbled upon a video that both excited and terrified me. Being a fan of Goose Island’s Bourbon County Stout, I was initially shocked to see the video below, in which brewers are adding ghost pepper to the beer for a future release.

Ghost peppers. These will hurt your soul

Don’t get me wrong: I like Bourbon County and have enjoyed ghost pepper sauce in the past. I’m just not sure this combination would work for me. The Bourbon County is bold and sweet. The ghost pepper is overwhelmingly, burn-your-lips-off hot.

Sure, sweet and spicy have found balance before, but with flavors this strong, it’s a delicate dance. Will I try it? Probably. Here’s hoping for the best.
